Ground Control & Canteen Duties

Ground Control & Canteen Information

Ground Control and Canteen (if required) are important club functions that parents and players are required to fulfill. All teams with Engadine Crusaders FC are allocated Ground Control during the season on a Rotation Roster. We require these positions to be filled each week in order for game days to run efficiently as well as being a rule from the Association. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your allocated time in order for the day to run on time

HOW WILL I KNOW I’M ON GROUND CONTROL?

Each week on the Engadine Crusaders FC Webpage and Facebook sites it will indicate which teams are allocated and rostered on for

Managers will also receive an Email indicating any information for that week. Please confirm back to acknowledge that you have been advised

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS WITH GROUND CONTROL?

You must be over 16 years to work in the canteen or BBQ. Adults only are to wear Orange vests during Ground Control Duties. Children are not permitted in the canteen or behind the BBQ as hot foods are being served and is a safety concern.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T WANT TO DO GROUND CONTROL?

In order to keep registration fees down, game days running efficiently and ground maintenance to be kept up all year round we must have a canteen / BBQ running during the season. It is also a requirement by the Football Association to have ground control people at our field at all times or the Club obtains a fine. But it is a requirement upon registration that you assist when required. We understand that sometimes you may have other committments, please speak to your team’s manager to see what they can arrange. Ground Control can be fun and a great way to watch some great football and meet some new people within our club.

WHAT IS GROUND CONTROL?

This year we have changed Ground Control responsibilities and requirements are slightly different between Saturdays and Sunday’s. A checklist of what is required during Ground Control is located on the rear of the entrance door and webpage.

WHO HELPS WITH GROUND CONTROL?

Match Day Co-Ordinator , this person is assigned by the Committee to over see the running of the club on Game day (please see MDC Policy on webpage)

The committee has a list of people whom help us out; this person could be a committee member, coach, manger, parent or grandparent. We are always looking for more helpers and all help is appreciated.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS NO REFEREE?

For SSF Games the club has already organised Miniroo referee’s , these are normally Crusaders Juniors and need to be looked after and looked out for. If you find that a game isn’t covered, please see the MDC and they will know what to do, if you can’t find them, find a responsible person to get the job done, the kids don’t care about incorrect rulings they just want to have fun and kick the ball around.

If there is a “no show” of an Association Referee for a Competition game, Ground Control and the manager of the home team must provide a ground appointed referee. All the items  you require to referee will be located in the canteen. Please check at least 10 minutes before scheduled start that there is a referee for the upcoming game.

WHAT DOES THE ORANGE VEST MEAN?

The orange vest indicates that you are an official at the field; the vest makes you easily identified should you need to assist home or away team whilst they are at Preston Park. This may mean moving goal posts, crowd control, parking issues, injuries on the field; assist the referee should they have any issues with spectators or coaches. Also if the canteen is busy or BBQ for a short period of time please offer assistance, especially on a Saturday Morning when the field is at the busiest.
